There are beautiful places waiting to be explored by us, all around us. I have been working in Bengaluru for a year now and have only visited a fraction of them till now (many of them for work). I will mention some that are on my to visit list and some that I have already visited (the ones that I have already visited are mostly heritage and historical in nature).
My to visit list (not in order)-
1) Pondicherry

2) Rameswaram- along with Dhanushkodi, Tamil nadu
3) Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu

4) Mahabalipuram, Tamil Nadu
5) Belum caves, Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh

6) Andaman and Nicobar
7) Lakshwadweep
8) Munnar, Kerala
9) Kochi, Kerala
9) Mysore, Karnataka

Visited and found beautiful (not in order)
For some of the places that I have visited you can see more information and check out 360 degree tours on InRootz.
1) Badami - I love it when there’s a lake surrounded by a fort and some caves and a temple on the banks of an ancient lake. All built by the Chalukyas about 1300 years ago.
2) Ramappa temple and lake, Palampet, Telangana - You will definitely be amazed by the beautiful carvings inside the temple. It is said that they inspired the writer of Nritya Ratnavali . There is also a beautiful lake nearby frequented by bird watchers and there's a Telangana state guest house also.
3) Patadakkal - It’s a completely red town near Badami. Don’t visit in the summers. Must visit for its heritage, it's a UNESCO World Heritage site. This is where Chalukyan Kings were crowned.
4) Alampur, Mahbubnagar district, Telangana - Again the village town is small and you probably won’t like it for lack of services, but I loved the experience when I visited. The most beautiful is the River Tungabhadra flowing near the Navabrahma temples (constructed by the Chalukya dynasty). At some point ahead it meets the Krishna river where the Srisailam dam has been built.
5) Bengaluru - Now I know the places in the city might not be anywhere near the beauty of the villages, beaches, mountains or rivers, but still I live here and I haven't seen the Tipu Sultan Palace or the Freedom park or the Bangalore fort......What I visited and liked was the Cubbon park (with an awesome library), Bannerghatta National Park (one time visit is enough and worthwhile) and Nandi hill.
Image - my own for once :P
6) Hyderabad - I just love the city for its food, life and public places. Visited all major museums of the city (Salar Jung and State Archaeology museum being the best). An unexplored museum that people miss out is the Nehru Centenary Tribal Museum . In natural places there is the Ananthagiri hills also (image below)
There are tens of places coming to my mind right now, but I will restrict and add only when I feel they are beautiful enough to be added here.
