Some things are Better left unsaid

Every second you spend reading this sentence
Brings you a breath closer to being dead
All these things that are dark and tense
Are better left unsaid
Sometimes, people say things about you that are hard to hear, but are very much true. The above lines, for example. Death is inevitable and that's a fact, but you were better off without being reminded of it, right? That sort of stuff is depressing and it's not a pleasant subject to talk about.
For teenagers, there are similar subjects that we would not like to talk about. Like exams and assignments, for instance. We know that they'll come to us sooner or later, but we have enough bad things in our life without including them, so we don't wish to talk about it if we can help it.
We know that doom approached us
Ever so loud and clear
But we don't want to make a fuss
Increasing what we already fear
It's worse when it is incensed by envy or disappointment. You know, when everyone has something and you get reminded that you don't and possibly never will. Or when you get disappointed with someone and every time you get reminded of what they did or didn't do. What good could possibly come out of recounting this? It just brings back bad memories, makes us doubt our abilities and our self-worth. It's not the kind of motivation we need in order to perform better the next time.
People just throw it in a casual way
To make you take it in your stride
But those thoughts are here to stay
And they hurt painfully inside
They rarely ever put any real effort to forget or not mention it. Perhaps it's because they never truly understand the sting of their words. It puts us in a difficult situation as we are hurt by them, but can't lash out as they're quite true.
Try to think about how we feel
And the time that we wish to cease
The more and more the calm you steal
The greater you disturb our peace
What's more troubling is that we don't tend to forget these remarks. Of course, most of us won't lash out or tell you that you can't say these things, but they just leave us with nothing else to think about. We'll be obsessing over it all day long, wondering if our past defines the rest of our lives and fearing that we'll never change.
We pretend that your words don't hurt
That all they do is help us heal
It doesn't matter if it's long or curt
You don't realise how we feel
Stop reminding us, it'd be a relief
Of everything that we hate and dread
This gives meaning to the belief
That some things are better left unsaid
